Review the Audit Log

Review who changed Workspace data, when it happened, and the recorded before-and-after context.

Open and filter activity

  1. Open Settings > Audit Log.
  2. Set Date From and Date To when reviewing a known period.
  3. Filter by Module, Activity, or Importance.
  4. Search Workspace activity by record, action, amount, Category, or other recorded text. Search checks the saved Audit Log, including events older than the currently loaded page.
  5. Expand an activity to review its recorded details.
  6. Select Load Earlier Activity when more events match the selected date range and filters. Select Refresh to request current activity, or Reset Filters to clear the search.

Search requests matching events from the Workspace Audit Log while preserving the active Search field during typing. Older matching events can be loaded in pages without resetting the filters. The initial date range is the last seven calendar days; change Date From to review older periods.

Typical recorded activity

Audit Log may include financial record changes, import actions, reconciliation changes, Category and Business Profile changes, Accountant invitations and revocations, Year End Review actions, Working Papers, Workspace sign-ins, and controlled system entries.

The exact detail depends on the action. Some events include readable before and after values, actor information, target record, source module, and importance.

Important boundaries

  • Audit Log is Workspace-specific.
  • Read access does not grant permission to repeat or reverse an action.
  • Reopening, undoing, withdrawing, or reversing a controlled record must happen in its source workflow.
  • Audit Log is not a complete substitute for financial reports or source documents.
  • A Signed in to Workspace event records a successful entry to that Workspace for a new xBoox browser session. Refreshing or navigating within the same session does not create another sign-in event.
  • Passive page loads and automatic checks should not create financial activity entries.
  • Saving or deleting a Chart of Accounts account, saving or withdrawing a Home Office Working Paper, or confirming a captured receipt requires its Audit Log entry to save with the change. If that write fails, the change is rolled back.
