Resolve sign-in and Accountant invitation problems

Choose a sign-in method, restore an Auth0 session, or correct an invitation problem.

Choose a sign-in method

The Portal uses matching Sign in and Sign up pages. Google and email are available in the current development flow. Microsoft and Apple are shown as coming soon until their identity-provider connections are configured.

Use the same method each time when possible. xBoox does not receive or store your Google, Microsoft, Apple, or email password; Auth0 and the selected provider handle authentication.

An account already uses this email

Two sign-in methods can return the same email while representing different Auth0 identities. xBoox does not merge them based only on matching email.

If xBoox reports that account linking is required, sign out and use the original sign-in method associated with the existing Workspace. Neither identity nor Workspace access is automatically changed. Secure self-service linking will require fresh authentication of both accounts and is not available in the current version.

Browser session ended

xBoox keeps authentication tokens in memory rather than persistent browser storage. Closing the browser ends the xBoox browser session. Sign in again when you reopen xBoox.

Reloading xBoox in the same open browser tab may restore the current session through Auth0. Selecting Sign out clears the xBoox session and also requests sign-out from the hosted Auth0 session.

Owners and invited Accountants use the same Sign in action on the public Portal. Workspace membership and invitation status determine which private Workspaces the signed-in identity can open.

Sign in from an installed iPhone Web App

When xBoox is opened from an iPhone Home Screen icon in standalone mode, tap the xBoox sign-in button to open Google or Auth0 in a temporary secure sign-in window. Complete authentication there. The temporary window should close and return to the original xBoox Web App without leaving browser controls attached to the bookkeeping screen.

Do not close the xBoox Web App while the temporary sign-in window is open. If the window is closed or blocked, return to xBoox and tap the sign-in button again. A normal browser tab continues to use the regular redirect flow.

Sign-in page is no longer active

Using the browser Back button while Google or Auth0 sign-in is in progress can return to an authorization request that has already been used or has expired. xBoox does not reuse that request and returns you to the Portal home page. Select Sign in to begin a new sign-in attempt.

This condition does not change Workspace or bookkeeping data. Do not keep reopening the older Google or Auth0 page from browser history.

Session expired

xBoox attempts one silent Auth0 renewal when a private API request reports an expired token. If renewal succeeds, retry the work after the Session refreshed confirmation. If it fails, sign in again.

Authentication failures must not be interpreted as empty bookkeeping data. Do not recreate missing-looking records before restoring the session.

Email is not verified

Complete Auth0 email verification, then sign in again. A verified email is required for Workspace and invitation access.

Invitation expired

Accountant invitation links expire after seven days. Ask the Workspace Owner to refresh the pending invitation and send the newly generated link.

Wrong signed-in email

The accepted Auth0 email must match the invited email. Sign out and use the exact invited address, or ask the Owner to replace the invitation.

Invitation is revoked or already used

A revoked link cannot be restored. An accepted link does not create another membership when opened again. Ask the Owner to review Settings > My Accountant.

Another Accountant is active

Each Workspace allows one active Accountant. The Owner must revoke existing access before inviting a replacement.

Workspace access is denied

Signing in does not automatically grant access to every Workspace. Confirm that the membership or invitation belongs to the selected Workspace.

After an invitation is accepted, sign in directly with the invited verified email. The original invitation link is not required. If xBoox cannot complete workspace discovery or load the permitted data, it keeps the startup check on screen and offers Retry instead of displaying an empty or partial Dashboard.
